ITS will be performing network maintenance on Thursday 4/14/16 from 5:30-7:00 am which may result in the loss of the wired or wireless network in the following locations:

Doane Dance Building

Please do not edit files over the network or submit information online during this time period as your work may be lost when the network outages occur.
This post will be updated when the work is complete. If you experience any network connectivity issues after this time, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu.

Between 1:05pm – 1:10pm today we experienced an outage on wired and wireless networks due to a problem encountered during a troubleshooting attempt for an intermittent network issue. This outage has effected all services provided over the network (Gmail, DialPad, NoteBowl, Novell, etc.) The problematic configuration change has been reversed, and all operations should be back to normal.  Please report any network issues to the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu.

At around 3:00pm, the ITS Help Desk received reports that employee printing was not working for several users on campus. ITS identified the issue and restored employee printing service at 3:10pm. We have received confirmation that the final group of phone numbers was moved from Windstream to Dialpad at 11am on 10/4/17. This port included the Denison Main Line number 740-587-0810. To reach the Denison University operator you can dial 740-587-0810 or x0810 from Dialpad or type Denison University in the search bar on the computer application.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call our ITS Helpdesk at 740-587-6395 or email us at helpdesk@denison.edu

Update: 11:24 am EST

The issue is now resolved. The number was unavilable due to the activation of the number taking a longer time than expected on the new provider’s system during the porting process. The Denison University Main Line phone number 740-587-0810 is now reachable and functioning as intended. Please contact the ITS Helpdesk if there are any questions.

Thank you.

On September 25, 2017, Apple released the latest version of the Mac operating system called macOS High Sierra. ITS is just beginning to evaluate this new operating system for compatibility with Denison standard software and technology services.

At this point, we do not have results to share. ITS recommends holding off on upgrading to macOS High Sierra until testing has been completed. Updates will be posted here as soon as additional information is available.

A new major version of Java – Java 9 – is being released. You may soon see prompts to upgrade Java.

If you use Internet-Native Banner, please DO NOT UPGRADE Java. Banner will not work with Java 9.

If you receive an upgrade prompt, choose the “Run” or “Later” option and – if available – check the checkbox that says “Do not prompt me again for this version”.

If you inadvertently update to Java 9, you will need to roll back to Java 8 if you need to use Internet-Native Banner. Please contact the ITS Help Desk to request assistance doing so.

If you have any questions or problems, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu.
