Update: Sunday, 2:45 PM

All Banner services (INB and Self-Service Banner) are available.  After the Banner maintenance, we have found a couple of processes that do not function as expected and we are still investigating the following:  Please note that in accessing Banner INB via the MyDenison portal, (My Apps, My Banner), that link is currently not working as expected.  As an alternative, please go directly to Banner INB by directing your browser to banner.denison.edu — Additionally, when viewing the CAPP degree audit reports from within Self-Service Banner (SSB), the embedded links within the report’s output are not working as expected.

ITS will be performing Banner (INB) and Self-Service Banner (SSB) maintenance on Saturday, 1/9/16 5:00 AM through Sunday, 1/10/15 6:00 PM.  Banner and all related systems will be unavailable during this maintenance window.

UPDATE: 1/7/16 3 p.m. Consort system is partially restored. It is available for use until we can schedule a more complete repair.

ITS is planning to install latest updates on Novell OES servers hosting shared network drives (PERSONAL, SHARED, MEDIA, SCRATCH, etc) on Thursday, 1/7/16 between 4:00am and 7:30am.  As these updates are being applied, there will be short outages for the above network drives and printing while servers are updated and rebooted to complete installation. Please do not update files stored on the network file servers during these time periods.

Update 9:45AM:

At this time, access to all services has been restored. To accomplish this, a portion of this morning’s firewall maintenance had to be rolled back and will be rescheduled as soon as the vendor has addressed the issues experienced.

Update 9:00AM:

While firewall maintenance is completed, and access to the Internet or within your own network zone appears to be fine, access to some services is being denied. For example, ITS has received numerous reports of a proxy error when accessing MyDenison. The vendor has been contacted for assistance to correct the problem as soon as possible. In the meantime, please try using direct links to access key services – see apps.denison.edu/helpdesk/faq1541 for links.

Buildings to be affected include: Beth Eden, Huffman, Sawyer, Athletics, Beaver, East, Crawford, Shaw, Shepardson, Gilpatrick, Whisler, Shannon House, Bancroft, Prospect, Observatory, and Lamson Lodge.

AEP has finished their work and we have moved Internet traffic back to the primary line.

AEP is preforming maintenance on the primary Internet line.  Denison is currently running on our backup internet line.  We expect to switch back to the primary line this evening at about 5pm.  Updates will be posted here.

The email pretending to be from “Denison University” from a students.towson.edu email address with a subject of “Your Denison account Certificate expired on the 09-12-2015” is a scam. Please do not click on the link in the message. The message is not from Denison. It is another fraudulent attempt (aka phishing attack) to gather your username and password.

If you are using Denison Apps Mail:

Open the message and click the down arrow beside the Reply button and select “Report phishing” in the menu that appears. (Note: if “Report phishing” does not appear as an option and “Report not phishing” appears instead then the message is already flagged as phishing.)

This reports the phishing attack to Google and improves the identification and blocking of future phishing attacks. After you report it, please delete the message.

NOTE: this option is only available in the web (Gmail) interface for Denison Apps. It is not available if you are using Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or another client to access your Denison Apps email.

Please DO NOT RESPOND to or click links in this or any emails that request computer account or other personal information. They are an attempt to steal, at minimum, your email or other computer account, at maximum, your identity.
