The email pretending to be from “Help desk <gesalazar2@utpl.edu.ec>” with a subject of “[Phish]” is a scam. Please do not click on the link in the message. The message is not from Denison. It is another fraudulent attempt (aka phishing attack) to gather your username and password.

If you are using Denison Apps Mail:

  • Open the message and click the down arrow beside the Reply button.
  • Select  “Report Phishing” in the menu that appears.

Taking these steps to report the phishing attack to Google helps improve the identification and blocking of future phishing attacks. After you report it, please delete the message.

NOTE: this option is only available in the web (Gmail) interface for Denison Apps. It is not available if you are using Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or another client to access your Denison Apps email.

Please DO NOT RESPOND to or click links in this or any emails that request computer account or other personal information. They are an attempt to steal, at minimum, your email or other computer account, at maximum, your identity.

If you replied to it in any fashion, please immediately visit www.denison.edu/its and use the “Change Your Email Password Now” link in the Password Change area (bottom right corner) to change your email password. Please contact the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395 if you have any questions or concerns.

As of 10:00AM Monday, 249 staff and 620 students have not yet changed their BigRedID password to meet secure password complexity requirements. In order to ease this impact, we have extended the deadline to noon on Tuesday, Nov 17th. If you received an email on Nov. 9th reminding you to change your password and have not yet done so, please make that change today.

Denison has installed the Atomic Learning “Blackboard Building Block” so you can easily make Atomic Learning software & technology training tutorials available to your students within your Blackboard courses. Integration options include the ability to select specific Atomic Learning videos and/or assessments and assign them to your students, automatically adding Blackboard Grade Center columns to track completion if desired. The ITS Help Desk has received a number of reports of issues connecting to the wireless and wired network. ITS is investigating to identify and correct the issue as quickly as possible.

If you have the option of using a wired network connection, please try that. While issues have been reported with both wired and wireless connections, individuals have reported some success with a second try for a wired network connection.
