The third-party Google Meet Grid View extension published by Chris Gamble has been causing significant issues with displaying meeting attendees, freezing video, and computer performance. Since Google released a tiled view in Google Meet, Information Technology Services (ITS) recommends removing the 3rd-party extension and moving to using the built-in Google Meet tiled view layout.

To remove the extension, please:

  1. In Chrome, click the Extension icon in the upper right-hand corner (puzzle icon).
  2. Click the three vertical dots aside from the Google Meet Grid View extension.
  3. Click Remove from Chrome…

For detailed information, please see this Quick Reference Guide on Removing the Third-party Grid View extension.

If you have any questions or require support, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 740-587-6395 or servicedesk@denison.edu

On Wednesday July 8th, Denison will begin moving to a new virtual private network (VPN) service. This service, called GlobalProtect, will replace Pulse Secure by July 23.

If you currently use Pulse Secure, please take action to install the GlobalProtect VPN agent as soon as possible. You can find Quick Reference Guides for installing and using the GlobalProtect VPN agent in the Access Instructions section of the MyDenison GlobalProtect page.

Why the change?

  • GlobalProtect provides expanded user access, a more intuitive login process, cost savings, and some valuable behind-the-scenes security/management features.

When must I change?

  • Pulse Secure will no longer be available after July 23, 2020.
  • Information Technology Services (ITS) recommends you begin using the GlobalProtect VPN agent as soon as possible. For VPN continuity of use, you must switch to GlobalProtect and uninstall Pulse Secure by July 23, 2020.

Questions?

Denison is in the process of finalizing a campus-wide Zoom license. When that is available, Information Technology Services (ITS) will provide faculty and staff with resources and training opportunities. Look for further updates on Zoom later this month!

Please note, Google Meet will continue as our primary tool for video conferencing, but the video conferencing section in MyDenison will be expanded to include Zoom information once the license is finalized and resources are created.

The Denison Facilities Services team is happy to announce a service management replacement tool called TopDesk. This new service will replace TMA and has advanced capabilities for putting in a service request, tracking your request and follow-up from our team.

To enter a Facilities service request, you have many options! First, you may email your request to facilities@denison.edu and your request will automatically be logged to the system. You may also log a ticket by selecting the TopDesk icon in MyDenison and logging a ticket that way. You will receive a follow-up email directly from TopDesk regarding your request and its status. You may track the status of your ticket using the Self-Service Portal functionality.
