There were several network devices across campus that lost power at 6:30am.  The majority of the equipment power returned around 7:15am.  Some equipment did not return until 8:30am.  If you experienced network trouble during this time it is most likely due to this outage.

Here are some of the areas that experienced the outage:

Athletics, Knapp, Bancroft, Smith, Curtis, Talbot, Slayter, Shaw, Doane, Higley, Barney, Library, Burtonmusic, Brown, Myers, Good, Crawford, East, Preston, Beth Eden, Kappa Sig, Beaver, Stone, Moshier Hutchinson, Hayes, Wright, Sheppard, Shorney, and Olin.  There may have been other areas effected that are not included in this list.

Network maintenance will take place in the locations listed above on Tuesday 11/18/14 between 5am-7am.  During this timeframe both the wired and wireless network could experience small outages which could last around 5 – 10 minutes.

Network maintenance was successfully completed.

Between 6:15 and 6:30 AM, ITS will perform routine maintenance to the Denison BigRedID Login infrastructure. During this maintenance period users may not be able to login to BigRedID based services such as Denison Apps, MyDenison, and other services.

As of 11/10/14, ITS has updated the behavior of Google chat within Denison Apps to automatically accept invitations for faculty and staff chat contacts within Denison. This means that faculty and staff whom you frequently email will now appear in your chat list without needing to send an invitation. If you have any questions about this change, please contact the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395.

ITS has noted that login problems are recurring and investigation is continuing.

ITS is continuing to receive reports of intermittent issues accessing Blackboard.  Work is continuing to identify and correct the issue.

Update 8:55 am:  

The Blackboard host site is investigating the cause of the outage and working to correct it. Further updates will be posted as they become available.
