Zoom has announced a critical security vulnerability for the Zoom Desktop App for the Mac (see the Zoom Security Bulletin 8/13/2022 entry). Because of this vulnerability, you must update your Zoom desktop app immediately.
ITS recommends Windows users update their Zoom desktop app as well, so you have the latest Zoom features before the start of the academic year. ITS will be updating Zoom on lab and classroom computers. You should update Zoom on every Mac and Windows computer that you use, whether they are personal or Denison-owned.
To update the Zoom desktop app on a Mac or Windows computer:
- Open and sign in to the Zoom Client (aka desktop app) – see video OR instructions.
- Update the Zoom Client by clicking your profile icon and selecting Check for Updates. It will download and prompt you to install if an update is available. Once you do so, Zoom will automatically restart. (For more detailed instructions, see update video OR instructions.)
- Please click your profile icon and choose Check for Updates again to make sure that it says your desktop app is up-to-date.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact the ITS Service Desk at servicedesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395.
