Update on 9/6/21 at 9:50 AM:  ITS observes that devices on campus wireless connections are now successfully connecting to Spotify.At this time, you do not need to use a VPN connection to use Spotify on a campus wireless network. If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 740-587-6395 or servicedesk@denison.edu.

 

Update: 9/5/21 at 6:00 pm: Denison’s wireless vendor is continuing to work on the bug fix that is causing this issue and release an immediate patch to resolve this issue.

In the meantime, if you need to connect to Spotify using a campus wireless connection, please use the GlobalConnect VPN client. ITS has verified that devices using a VPN connection on-campus wireless, as well as devices with a wired connection to the campus network, can successfully reach Spotify.

Around 11:45 AM, the Service Desk began receiving notice that the Spotify music streaming service could not be loaded on devices using campus wireless connections. ITS confirmed the issue and verified that Denison is not blocking access to Spotify. Devices using a wired connection to the campus network, devices using a VPN connection on campus wireless, and devices off campus are not affected by this issue.

Upon consulting with Denison’s wireless vendor, it was determined that a bug in their code is unintentionally temporarily blocking wireless access to Spotify. The vendor is preparing a fix, and they have advised that it may be at least 48 hours before they have a resolution in place.

In the meantime, if you need to connect to Spotify using a campus wireless connection, please use the GlobalConnect VPN client. ITS has verified that devices using a VPN connection on campus wireless, as well as devices with a wired connection to the campus network, can successfully reach Spotify.
