There have been some reports of slow wireless across campus. ITS will be performing network maintenance tomorrow morning in an effort to correct this. There will be a brief outage during the change.

We have recently noticed that several wireless access points (wireless routers) across campus have been rebooting in the middle of the day. This has been occurring over the past 3-4 weeks and would usually happen less than one time a day. We will be putting in a fix tomorrow (11/10/16) that we hope will address this issue. You may or may not have noticed the effects of this.

All network services are back online. There was a power event that impacted a good portion of campus. The Bryant Arts Building took the longest to restore due to a power supply that we had to manually turn on after the event.

This coming Thursday 10/27/16 between 5-7am ITS will be removing the “denison” wireless network campus wide. Please take this time to move your computer to “eduroam” if you are still using “denison” as a wireless network. “eduroam” is our secure wireless network offered throughout campus. If your device will not work on “eduroam” then you can use “Denison Guest” for wireless access.

With the changes on Friday 8/12/16, the wireless network “denison” is being phased out in favor of the following two wireless networks:
  • eduroam – Global WiFi roaming for academia
    • A secure wireless network for Denison students, faculty and staff, as well as visitors from other eduroam member institutions
  • Denison Guest – Campus public network
    • An open wireless network for Denison guests or devices that are unable to use eduroam
Also as of Friday 8/12/16, eduroam requires that you use the @denison.edu suffix when logged in. If you had previously logged in without using the @denison.edu suffix you will be prompted to reenter your credentials. Please do so using the @denison.edu suffix.
