On 1/10/19 ITS will be performing planned network configuration changes. As we complete this work, there will be a minimal 10-30 second disruption to the campus network. If any issues arise and additional troubleshooting is needed, there may be a longer network outage during the change window between 5-7am. While we don’t anticipate any issues, in case we run into problems and are not able to resolve them within 20 minutes, we will roll back the changes. Please be aware that during outage times the Internet connectivity will be unavailable, including Dialpad, Notebowl, etc.

Technical Services identified a network outage in Slayter caused by loss of power from 2:00pm – 2:10pm on 1/8/19. The outage interrupted network and Dialpad services for Slayter. The root cause of the power outage is still being investigated.

On Wednesday 10/10/18, any device you have that is connected to eduroam will display a prompt asking you to accept a new certificate. This is a legitimate prompt based on a necessary update to the security certificate associated with eduroam which will take place on 10/10/18 at 8:00AM. The form the prompt takes varies by device. On Macs, after you accept the prompt you might be prompted to enter your computer password so your computer saves your “Certificate Trust Settings”.

This is a one-time action needed because the security certificate associated with “radius.denison.edu” which supports eduroam logins must be renewed. Certificates are issued for designated time periods (now two years).

On Thursday, August 9th, ITS updated our wireless networks to improve network security.

All Denison staff and students should use the eduroam Wi-Fi network for their wireless devices. This network provides secure, encrypted connectivity.

In addition to our secure eduroam wireless network, two new wireless networks will be available: Denison-Guest and Denison-Play.

Denison-Guest is intended for use by guests of the university. To connect to this wireless network, guests will need to open a browser and enter an email address into the Denison-Guest registration web page. Registering will provide their wireless device internet access for 48 hours before needing to re-register.

Denison-Play should be used by students and staff only for wireless devices that are not able to connect to eduroam such as most streaming devices (Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV) and gaming consoles (Xbox and PS4). Denison-Play is a wireless registration network. Go to “MyDension>My Apps>Register a device to Denison-Play” ot visit https://bradfordreg.denison.edu/registration/ and register your device with the associated MAC address.

To connect to eduroam, please log in with your full Denison email address as your user name and enter your Denison email password. On many device types, you will need to accept a certificate by clicking “Continue” or “OK” after entering your login credentials. For more details about connecting to eduroam, please see the wireless network page within MyDenison.
