AWS has reported to Notebowl that the issue is resolved. Notebowl will restart all failed uploads.

ITS received a report on October 22, 2019 at 3:10pm that some course documents are not loading in Notebowl. After reaching out to Notebowl, we discovered that this is due to Intermittent DNS Resolution Errors with AWS (status here), which hosts some of the content on our Notebowl instance.

Impacted features are:

  •  Uploads
  • Document Viewing
  • Document conversions
  • Emails that contain attachments

Notebowl reported this issue to AWS, and they have informed us that someone is working on this case. We will update as we find out more information.

For professors who need to share documents with students, we advise you to do so by uploading the document to Google Drive and sharing the link to that document with students. You can even paste the link in the Documents Tab in Notebowl.

 

 

At 9:00pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 the Denison Help Desk received a report from a user who received an expired certificate when attempting to log into Notebowl. Notebowl was still accessible by clicking “Advanced” and continuing to the site.

Notebowl resolved the issue at 9:30pm.

If you are still experiencing issues in Chrome versions 70-73, please go into your settings and history to clear your cache. If you are on the most recent version of Chrome, you should only need to refresh your browser tab.

At 2:39pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 the Denison Help Desk received reports from users that they received an expired certificate when attempting to log into Notebowl.

Notebowl resolved the issue at 4:34pm.

Update 11/14/2018 9:53am: The Google servers that host NoteBowl reported a network outage from 5:47pm EST to 6:06pm EST on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. NoteBowl will be looking into automatic failover to AWS to prevent these types of issues in the future.

Update 11/13/2018 6:19pm: The issue appears to be resolved. Please report any new error messages to helpdesk@denison.edu.

ITS reported an error message to NoteBowl at 6:00pm today (11/13/2018) that does not allow users to log in. They are investigating the issue, and we will update when we know more.

We have received reports that NoteBowl is displaying an error message upon login and when pages load within the platform.
The message is as follows:
Update Notification Server Disconnected
The update notification server could not be reached. Some features may not work properly. Click “Cancel” to proceed. Otherwise, click “Refresh” to reload the page and try again.
Please click cancel to load your page.
We are investigating the issue and will update NetNotes when we know more.
