Update 12/09/14
Update 10/24/14 – Early Research/Testing Results:
- Research and testing to date have identified the following issues with Denison software/services related to Mac OS X Yosemite:
- Student personal “Laptop to Lab” printing does not work. Novell, which provides the iPrint client used to support Laptop to Lab printing, is aware of the issue and is investigating it. There is no timeline for a solution yet.
- Prior versions of McAfee will not run. A new version of McAfee for OS X that supports Yosemite, version 9.7, is now available for download on MyDenison. It can be found under My Apps -> Software Downloads for Students or Faculty/Staff -> McAfee.
Original Post:
Mac OS X, version 10.10, referred to by Apple as “Yosemite” is the latest release of the Apple operating system for Macintosh workstations such as iMacs, MacBooks and Mac Pros. Released last Thursday, October 16th, 2014, Apple lists many new features and improvements over the previous version at http://www.apple.com/osx/. ITS is currently testing this public release of OS X Yosemite to determine its compatibility with existing Denison-supported applications and systems, including those provided by external vendors.
At this time, ITS does not recommend upgrading to OS X Yosemite due to potential compatibility issues with various Denison applications and systems. If you have already upgraded and experienced any issues, please report those details to the ITS Help Desk so we can include them in our testing efforts.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any further questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu
