Original Post:

On Sunday, 3/10, the ITS department will be performing important infrastructure maintenance. The planned outage period for this maintenance is from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please expect for the following services to be inaccessible during this period:

  • Novell network storage
  • MyDenison Portal
  • Banner, Self Service
  • ITS Online Helpdesk
  • Extensis
  • Cognos

You may continue to access Denison Apps, Blackboard and PeopleAdmin by using the addresses below. We will post any status updates regarding the maintenance here.

  • Denison Apps – http://apps.denison.edu
  • Blackboard – http://courses.denison.edu
  • PeopleAdmin – https://employment.denison.edu/hr/sso

During the morning maintenance window on 1/12/13, ITS will be updating the faculty and staff print server. Precautions have been taken to resolve any potential printing issues resulting from this upgrade. If after the upgrade you find that you are missing a printer, please visit printers.denison.edu to install it again. If you experience any other printing issues, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at 587.6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu.

As of 10:00pm all network maintenance has been finished, wired and wireless connections should now be stable. Because of the unexpected extension of time needed to resolve problems, some systems, such as Self Service, will be unavailable until associated staff are able to restore them. Thank you for your patience.

*Update 15:15, 1/5/13* – Although wired and wireless networks are operational, we continue to work on some aspects of the network. Until this work is finished there is still a possibility another outage, and certain services will remain offline (MyDenison, Self Service). We will update NetNotes when work is completed.

From 5:00 pm on Friday 1/4/13 until ~2:00 pm on Saturday 1/5/13, ITS will be performing network upgrades that may cause intermittent outages to the wired and wireless networks on campus. The upgrades may also briefly disrupt on and off-campus access to network-based services (MyDenison, Denison Apps, Novell file servers, etc.) An update will be posted here when the upgrades are complete. If you experience problems with the network or any service after an update is posted that the upgrades are complete, please report the problem to the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu. Note: Voicemail and email will be monitored on Saturday and Sunday but you may not receive a direct reply until Monday AM.

ITS will be making a change to the wireless environment on Thursday morning 11/15 between 5 and 7:30am. During this time, wireless equipment will be unavailable for short periods of time. If you experience problems connecting to wireless after 7:30am, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu.

*Update 11/13/12 18:13: Following the campus email earlier today, all changes planned for the 5:00pm to 7:00 pm maintenance period have been made. If you experience wireless issues after this period, please continue to contact the helpdesk.*

We have a support engineer onsite this week from our wireless vendor and are working with them to resolve our current wireless network issues. There are currently no planned outages for this work but we will post on NetNotes if we find that one is necessary.

An architecture change to the campus wireless network this morning appears to have resolved the issues from the afternoon/evening of 10/10. We are assessing if the wireless disconnect/yellow exclamation point problem is still intermittently occurring. Please notify the helpdesk if you experience that problem.
