Information Technology Services (ITS) has implemented a new way to deploy security patches and critical updates to Windows computers so that you do not need a VPN connection when you are off campus, and to ensure that updates are applied in a timely manner.  These updates and security patches will be released the evening of Thursday, October 28, 2021.

When your computer has installed the updates, a restart may be required and you will be notified via a pop-up notification. You may choose to snooze this reboot notification for up to 14 days. However, we request that you perform the restart as soon as you can so critical security patches are not delayed.

After the 14th day, an automatic restart will occur if you have not manually rebooted your computer since snoozing the notification.

In the system tray, you will see a pop-up message to reboot. If you click this message, you may choose to snooze the notification for 12 hours, or reboot which will restart your computer immediately*. ITS recommends performing the reboot at the end of your day as it may take some time to apply the update. You will continue to receive reminder notifications every 12 hours until you reboot.

If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Service Desk at 740-587-6395 or servicedesk@denison.edu.

*Productivity Tip: plan your reboot for when you have 15 to 30 minutes available as it may take some time for the patches to apply to your computer.

All user access and inbound integration such as Invoice Imports, ERP import to JAGGAER integrations, etc., will result in an error until services are restored. Outbound Integrations that originate in JAGGAER will queue until services are restored and export as normal. They are working to resolve this issue and updates will be posted as they become available.
