Update (4/12/2021 2:29PM ET)

The creation of Google Docs is working again. Google has restored the service and any other features that may have been affected with it as well.

Original Post (4/12/2021 9:15AM ET)

ITS has received several reports that creating new Google Docs is giving an error. This does not seem to impact existing Docs at this time. This appears to be a widespread issue for Google Docs, beyond Denison, and it has been reported to Google.

This post will be amended with updates, as they are available.

Information Technology Services (ITS) has received multiple reports of a McAfee pop-up appearing on Denison macOS devices running operating system versions of Catalina or higher (macOS 10.15+). The pop-up is a result of Apple’s latest efforts to enhance privacy and security for 3rd party applications on Apple computers. The image below shows the message contents:

McAfee pop-up

ITS has applied a change that should resolve the privacy requirements and prevent the pop-up from persisting. If you are still seeing the pop-up, please restart your computer at your earliest convenience and make sure you are connected to an internet network to ensure the change is applied to your computer.

If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Service Desk at servicedesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395.

On 2/18/21, Information Technology Services (ITS) will release an upgrade to McAfee Endpoint Security on Denison-owned computers. This upgrade is silent and will not impact your ability to use your computer while it is happening. At some point during the upgrade process, you might notice a Windows/Macintosh notification regarding your antivirus protection is off. It should resolve itself after a short period of time once the new software version is installed and running. Please note, this is different from Enabling the Chrome extension. If the Windows/Macintosh notification stays there permanently, please contact the ITS Service Desk at servicedesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395.
