ITS is continuing to receive reports of intermittent issues accessing Blackboard.  Work is continuing to identify and correct the issue.

The Blackboard host site is investigating the cause of the outage and working to correct it. Further updates will be posted as they become available.

We are aware that Blackboard (courses.denison.edu) is currently down and are attempting to restore this service as soon as possible.  Updates will be posted as they are received.

ITS is planning to install latest updates on Novell OES servers hosting shared network drives (PERSONAL, SHARED, MEDIA, SCRATCH, etc) on Thursday, 10/2/14 between 4:00am and 7:30am.  As these updates are being applied, there will be short outages for the above network drives and printing while servers are updated and rebooted to complete installation.

ITS is planning to install latest updates on Novell OES servers hosting shared network drives (PERSONAL, SHARED, MEDIA, SCRATCH, etc) on Thursday, 8/21/14 between 4:00am and 7:30am.  As these updates are being applied, there will be short outages for the above network drives and printing while servers are updated and rebooted to complete installation.

As a follow-up to the Facilities Services message about the planned power outage on 7/3/14, here are a few technology-related notes:

Before 7/3/14:
As requested by Facilities Services, please turn off or unplug computers and printers before you leave on 7/2/14.

On 7/3/14:
If you are off-campus OR in one of the buildings NOT affected by the power outage, you will be able to access all network-based services including Denison Apps (Email, Calendar, Drive, etc.), MyDenison, Self-Service Banner, Blackboard, VPN (Remote Access), and the file servers (Personal, Shared, and Media drives).  If you are on-campus in an affected building, network access (along with power!) will be unavailable.

After 7/3/14:
Computers and other technology equipment, particularly Apple computers, are sensitive to power fluctuations. If your computer/printer does not turn on after the power outage, please unplug it, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and then try to turn it on again.

Please note, the ITS Help Desk will be closed from Thursday 7/3/14 to Sunday 7/6/14 for the 4th of July holiday and the weekend. If you suspect a system-wide outage that requires immediate attention during this time, please contact the university operator at 740-587-0810 who will contact the appropriate ITS staff.

Server maintenance is complete and all Novell services are back to normal operation.

ITS is planning to install latest updates on Novell OES servers hosting shared network drives (PERSONAL, SHARED, MEDIA, SCRATCH, etc) on Friday, 6/13/14 between 4:00am and 7:30am.  As these updates are being applied, there will be outages lasting upto 60min for the above network drives and printing while servers are upgraded and rebooted to complete installation.

Update @ 7:03am on 6/11/14:

The upgrade of the servers is complete.

ITS will be updating servers on Wednesday, 6/11/14, between 4:00AM and 7:30AM. We do not anticipate the updates to cause any disruption, but please contact the Helpdesk if you experience an issue logging in to your workstation after the maintenance period has ended.
