Between 1:05pm – 1:10pm today we experienced an outage on wired and wireless networks due to a problem encountered during a troubleshooting attempt for an intermittent network issue. This outage has effected all services provided over the network (Gmail, DialPad, NoteBowl, Novell, etc.) The problematic configuration change has been reversed, and all operations should be back to normal.  Please report any network issues to the ITS Help Desk at 740-587-6395 or helpdesk@denison.edu.

At around 3:00pm, the ITS Help Desk received reports that employee printing was not working for several users on campus. ITS identified the issue and restored employee printing service at 3:10pm. Another phishing attempt titled “Alerts” pretending to be from “My Denison” is a scam.

If you are using Denison Apps Mail:

Open the message and click the down arrow beside the Reply button and select “Report phishing” in the menu that appears. (Note: if “Report phishing” does not appear as an option and “Report not phishing” appears instead then the message is already flagged as phishing.)

This reports the phishing attack to Google and improves the identification and blocking of future phishing attacks. After you report it, please delete the message.

NOTE: this option is only available in the web (Gmail) interface for Denison Apps. It is not available if you are using Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or another client to access your Denison Apps email.

On 6/15/17 ITS will release an upgrade to McAfee Endpoint Security on Denison-owned Windows computers. This upgrade is “silent” and will not impact your ability to use your computer while it is happening. At some point during the upgrade process, you might notice a Windows notification regarding your antivirus protection being off. It should resolve itself after a short period of time once the new software is installed and running. If the Windows notification stays there permanently, please contact the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395.
