Denison Information Technology Services (ITS) will be releasing security patches and critical updates to Windows computers the evening of 10/28/2019.  Users will be notified when updates are available via a Windows prompt that states, “You need some updates. Please select this message to install.”

ITS recommends users install the updates at their earliest convenience. Updates will take about 30 minutes to install, including a reboot to complete the process.

Between 5:00 and 7:00 AM on Thur 9/26/19, ITS will perform routine maintenance on the Login infrastructure. During this maintenance period, there will be a brief 1-2 minute window when users will not be able to login to BigRedID based services such as Denison Apps, MyDenison, NoteBowl, and other services.

On 9/12/19 ITS will release an upgrade to McAfee Endpoint Security on Denison-owned computers. This upgrade is “silent” and will not impact your ability to use your computer while it is happening. At some point during the upgrade process, you might notice a Windows notification regarding your antivirus protection is off. It should resolve itself after a short period of time once the new software version is installed and running. If the Windows notification stays there permanently, please contact the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@denison.edu or 740-587-6395.

ITS is planning to perform maintenance on servers hosting shared network drives (PERSONAL, SHARED, MEDIA, SCRATCH, etc) on Thursday 09/12/19 between 4:00am and 7:30am. There will be short outages for the above network drives and printing while servers are rebooted to complete the maintenance. Please do not update files stored on the network file servers during these time periods.

MyDenison is now available. ITS has resolved the issue and restarted the services.

ITS will be performing critical upgrades to Banner on Friday, 8/30/2019 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. This includes both Banner Admin pages and Banner Self-Service and affects all functional areas. During this time, all Banner systems will be unavailable. Banner, Self-Service, and all related systems such as Xtender, Jaggaer, e-procurement, Cognos, and portions of MyDenison that rely on Banner data will be unavailable during this maintenance window.

When the maintenance work is completed, this post will be updated with additional information.

Beginning Tuesday, July 30th at 3:00am, ITS will begin upgrading the file server infrastructure that provides STUDENT PERSONAL (aka student “U:”) network drives. During this maintenance period student Personal network drives will be unavailable. We expect access to be restored by 7am Tuesday, July 30.

IMPORTANT! Please do not change any files on student Personal drives while this maintenance is in progress. Any file changes made on these drives during this period will be lost.
